CHRISTIANNE NEVES RESUMÉ Christianne was born in São Paulo in 1965. She graduated as a lawyer from the University of São Paulo (1987) and has a post-graduate degree in music from UNICAMP (University of Campinas) (2004). She studied classical piano with Sofia Hoffner, Antonio Bezzan and Rafael dos Santos and jazz and modern harmony at CLAM (Zimbo Trio) where she also taught from 1988 to 1992. Abroad, she took a course in musical direction at the Mountview Theatre School in London, with a scholarship from the British Council (1992), acting as pianist and musical director of the English musical Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert & Sullivan. In 1993/94 she carried out a research in Flamenco and Spanish classical music in Madrid, Seville and Jerez de la Frontera (Spain) at the invitation of the Spanish dancer Ana Esmeralda, interpreting the Piano Solo Concert “From Brazil to Spain” at the Buena Vista Cultural Center and at the Lope de Vega Institute in Madrid. She gave the same concert at the Grosvenor Chapel in London. The program included her own compositions and arrangements of Brazilian music and Spanish classical music. In São Paulo she has performed as pianist, musical director and arranger. She participated in the musical theater show Broadway Babies together with Wellington Nogueira in a season at the Crowne Plaza Theater and in Histories of New York by Dorothy Parker in 1994. She was musical advisor of the Cultura Inglesa for six years and directed several shows such as Rocky Horror Show, Blood Brothers, They are playing our song, Kiss me Kate and Cabaret, and Little Shop of Horrors for the American Graded School. She was a member of the Symphonic Jazz Orchestra for two months (1997), giving concerts together with Gal Costa and Gilson Peranzetta. Christianne was a member of the Heartbreakers Orchestra (from 1995 to 1998), touring Europe (Dance Biennial of Lyon in France in 1996 and in Portugal) and the Caribbean (Curação in1997). She participated in the CD Salsa Brasileira with the orchestra, launched by PolyGram in Brazil and in Europe. She toured with the Heartbreakers Orchestra in Portugal (1998) to promote the CD Hora do Brasil – the Pre-Bossa Nova of which she participated as instrumentalist and musical producer together with Guga Stroeter and Matias Capovilla. In 1998, she participated in the SESC project - Copa & Cozinha – as instrumentalist and arranger with Elza Soares, Paulinho da Viola, Zeca Baleiro and Jair Rodrigues. She was responsible for the sound tracks of the program “Quiz MTV” at MTV in 1998 and recorded the special program “Romance MTV” with the Heartbreakers Orchestra together with several guest artists working as arranger and instrumentalist. Christianne launched her first independent CD – "Refúgio" - in 1998 in which she presents original compositions and arrangements. She studied Orchestra Conducting with Maestro Roberto Farias at the Universidade Livre de Música (ULM) for two years. She composed the sound track for the play “Camila Baker” by Emilio Boechet and for the children’s musical “Monstros Peludos” (Hairy Monsters) by Guga Stroeter (1999). She composed the sound track of the short feature movie “A Idade do Coração” (Age of the Heart) (1999) by Tammy Marrachini, a musical comedy for the movies with Lucélia Santos and Eva Todor in the cast. She is currently a member of the Havana Brasil Orchestra formed by previous members of the Heartbreakers Orchestra, with regular presentations every Sunday at the Bourbon Street Music Club since January 2000, presenting a repertoire of Latin music. In April 2000 she performed in the project Jazz Now! in Edinburgh, Scotland with her trio promoting her CD “Refúgio”. In May 2000, she presented the same show at the Itaú Cultural Institute of Penápolis. She performed as pianist in the TV program of the CNT network "Frente e Verso" (Front and Reverse), a program of interviews presented by Clodovil Hernandez and exhibited nationally, from January to May, 2001. From 2001 to 2002 Christianne continued performing with her quartet and recorded a special program for Open TV presented by the journalist Patrícia Palumbo at SESC Paulista in 2001. She was musical director, arranger and pianist of the show “Eu, Maria Alcina” with presentations at the Crowne Plaza Theater and Supremo Musical between December 2001 and February 2002. During the same period, she participated as guest musician in the show by the singer Virgínia Rosa with presentations at SESC Vila Mariana and at the Crowne Plaza Theater. She performed with Tito Puente Jr. with the Havana Brasil Orchestra in a show at the Bourbon Street Club and in Rio de Janeiro (May 2002). She participated as pianist of several shows together with singers such as Carmina Juarez, Rita Ribeiro, Chico César, Virgínia Rosa and Vanessa da Mata. She participated as arranger, composer and pianist in the CD “Havana Brasil ao Vivo” (Havana Brasil Live) launched in August 2003. She was presented on TV Cultura as special guest of the show: Virgínia Rosa interprets Clara Nunes, in 2004. She concluded her Master’s Degree in Music at UNICAMP in June 2004 with the development of the subject “Composition for movies as those by Dave Grusin” with a scholarship from Capes (Co-ordination for the advancement of College Graduates). As pianist and musical coordinator, she worked at Tom Brasil for the performance of “Ópera do Malandro”, a production directed by Charles Moëller and Cláudio Botelho with a cast from Rio de Janeiro. She has been working for the band of the singer Fernanda Porto since October 2004 and is a member of the Sextet of Latin music Salsa Brasil with regular presentations in São Paulo. She launched her second record “Duas Madrugadas” at SESC Pompéia, SESC Instrumental Paulista and SESC São José in 2005, besides several other venues in São Paulo and in the interior. She was musical director of Fernanda Porto’s DVD recorded live at Tom Brasil in April 2006 – EMI. She is currently Fernanda Porto’s musical director and pianist. In February 2008 she participated in the Lapataia Festival in Punta del Este in Uruguay, performing with her quartet, in the project Brazil/Uruguay. She has performed with her trio/quartet in several projects, including: Instrumental Project of the São Paulo Cultural Center, Espaço Veja - Riviera de São Lourenço, Sesc Pompéia (opening of the Boca Livre show) and Virada Cultural, among others. She has been studying classical piano with the concert performer Maria Cecília Truffi since 2007. |
