Presentation Christianne Neves is a pianist, composer and arranger. Better known as a member of the orchestra Havana Brasil and for her work as musical director and pianist of Fernanda Porto, Christianne has been developing her work as composer for over eight years in projects that show a great versatility and a good measure of creativity. Esthetically, her work could be classified as Brazilian Jazz, but her music cannot really be labeled, because it presents elements of Flamenco, Indian, Cuban and Celtic inspiration, which mixed with Brazilian rhythm, give her performance a very special flavor. With surprising swing, because she also plays percussion, Christianne Neves turns her piano into a great orchestra, exploring sounds with impacting improvisations. Perhaps this can be explained by the ample contact she had with Flamenco when she was musical director of the Ballet Ana Esmeralda. Thus, Christianne Neves has been developing her work as an author with instrumental compositions in the classical combination of a jazz quartet with piano, double-bass, drums and percussion. In the two CDs launched by her: Refúgio (2000) and Duas Madrugadas (2004), in Brazilian music arrangements, Christianne reveals influences of Zimbo Trio, Radamés Gnatalli, Noel Rosa and Tom Jobim, but always with a lot of personality and charisma. MORE ON CHRISTIANNE NEVES Christianne Neves made several tours throughout Europe such as the Biennial of Dance of Lyon in France and Portugal and in Curaçao in the Caribbean at the time she was a member of the Heartbreakers Orchestra between 1994 and 2000. With her work as composer, Christianne performed in Scotland at the Festival Jazz Now! (2000) and in Punta Del Este at the Lapataia Festival (2008). In Brazil, Christianne Neves has performed with her quartet in several venues, but more recently in projects where important names of the MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) have been presented: “Música na Praça” (Music in the Park) in Sorocaba, Virada Cultural in São Paulo and in the Project Brasil Instrumental Andradas. But her talent does not stop here. Her qualifications include musical direction, mainly of musicals that allowed her to study in London at the Mountview Theatre School in 1992. She also directed the most recent DVD of the singer and composer Fernanda Porto with whom Christianne has a productive partnership. |
